NPFL: Abia Warriors will fortify team for continental engagement – Amapakabo

Abia Warriors technical adviser, Imama Amapakabo has promised to fortify the team ahead of their continental engagement next season.

The Umuahia-based club secured a place on the continent last weekend after a home win over El-Kanemi Warriors.

Amapakabo stated that his team will plan big for next season.

“There is no complete team universally every team requires an addition, let us not forget that we will be playing in a different stage from what we are used to,” Amapakabo told Abia Warriors media.

“There will be some additions to the team, we will plan big, the preparation for the competition starts immediately, we can’t relax now and it’s time for the serious work.

“We worked hard to be were we are now and move on from there.”

Abia Warriors will take on Ikorodu City in their last match of the season in Lagos.

NPFL: Sunshine Stars suspend Ibrahim over inappropriate comments

Sunshine Stars have suspended Suraju Ibrahim over comments he made against the club and the Ondo State Government.

The suspension was contained in a statement signed by the club’s media officer Isaac Afolabi.

According to the statement, Ibrahim was seen in a viral video making inappropriate comments against his employers.

An internal investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding this act.

Sunshine Stars described the act as inconsistent with the core values of the team, which are discipline, respect, and professionalism.

“We do not intend to be unnecessarily harsh on any of our hardworking players,” part of the statement reads.

“We will not also tolerate any form of indiscipline from players, individuals whose actions do not reflect the values and intentions of the Owena Whales.

“Everyone associated with the club is expected to uphold its values, especially during this period.”

Sunshine Stars were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following their 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in Ijebu-Ode on Sunday.

The Owena Whales will square up with El-Kanemi Warriors in the final match of the campaign in Maiduguri.

Defections: Politicians looking for safe landing – Ologbondiyan

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, says the recent gale of defections of opposition leaders to the All Progressives Congress, APC, is due to threats of a witch-hunt by the ruling party.

DAILY POST reports that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, along with his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, several commissioners, and others, last month defected from the PDP to the APC.

There is growing speculation that more governors may follow suit in the near future.

Ologbondiyan, who spoke on on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, stated that the governors and other opposition leaders defecting to the APC are merely seeking refuge to avoid being hounded by the ruling party.

“You must not forget that the former National Chairman of APC told Nigerians that just come over here, we will forgive all your sins, so people are looking for where sins are forgiven,” Ologbodiyan said.

According to him, no matter how many opposition leaders the APC manages to attract, the party will still have to contend with millions of Nigerians in its bid to retain power in 2027.

“But you know one thing, at the end of it all, it is going to be about the Nigerians’ position.

“You may pack all the 36 governors and put them in one boardroom and say they should declare for you. Have you packed the over 200 million Nigerians into the same boardroom? The answer is no,” he said.
