The 37.9 km Bodo–Bonny Road and the Proposed East–West Connection: What It Means for Finima

The 37.9 km Bodo–Bonny Road and the Proposed East–West Connection: What It Means for Finima
The Bodo–Bonny Road and bridges project is approximately 37.9 kilometres long—commonly described as about 40 km—and provides the first direct road link between Bonny Island and the mainland.
Two related projects, not one
It is important to distinguish the completed 37.9 km Bodo–Bonny Road from the separately announced 8.9 km dualisation proposal that would connect the route toward the East–West Road. The 8.9 km figure is not the length of the Bodo–Bonny Road itself.
Why the connection matters
For residents, businesses and visitors, reliable mainland access can reduce the practical difficulty of moving people, supplies and services. The announced extension design includes two flyovers, solar-powered streetlighting and monitoring systems.
What Finima should watch
As planning develops, Finima residents and local businesses should follow public updates on access, safety, local employment, supplier opportunities, environmental protection and how road benefits reach communities across Bonny Island.
What happens next
The extension announcement is a policy and project-development milestone. Timelines, procurement details and community-impact arrangements should be followed through official releases as the PPP process advances.
