Governors Call the Shots as PDP Installs New BoT Members

By Safiyat Muhammed

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to inaugurate new members of its Board of Trustees (BoT) today, Monday, May 12, 2025, at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.

This development was confirmed in an official circular released by the PDP’s Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, and dated Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The statement reads in part:

“With reference to the subject above, please be informed that the PDP Board of Trustees has scheduled the inauguration of its new members.

The event is set to take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the NEC Hall (Ground Floor), PDP National Headquarters.”

The Board of Trustees serves as the conscience of the party, providing strategic guidance and oversight for PDP’s leadership and policymaking. The swearing-in of the new BoT members marks a critical step in repositioning the opposition party ahead of future political engagements and national elections.

Party faithful, stakeholders, and invited guests are expected to attend the ceremony, which is part of the PDP’s broader efforts to strengthen internal structures and promote unity within its ranks.

The PDP leadership is optimistic that the newly inaugurated BoT members will bring renewed vision, wisdom, and direction to the party’s operations.

Defections: APC will not be able to handle what’s coming – Kola Ologbodiyan

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, will not be able to handle the impending implosion within its ranks.

He believes that the recent defections to the party by some governors and members of other political parties may not end well for the ruling party.

Appearing on Channels Television on Monday, the former mouthpiece of the main opposition party noted that the opposition was not as fragmented during the administration of Muhammadu Buhari as it is now under President Bola Tinubu.

“Even under the almighty Buhari, the opposition parties were not so fragmented. Let me tell you something and help me tell Nigerians…

“I want to assure them: the implosion that is coming in the All Progressives Congress, they will not be able to handle it.

“It’s almost here as we speak. President Tinubu brought ACN into the APC, are they united today? They are fragmented.

“Former President Muhammadu Buhari brought the CPC into the APC, are they united today? They are fragmented.

“So it’s going to be a season of implosion. They are talking about the PDP today and saying, ‘Oh, governors are leaving’ do you know who will leave your party tomorrow? You don’t know.”

It will be recalled that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, alongside national and state lawmakers, recently dumped the PDP for the ruling party.
